教育学部第十二届国际暑期学校课程圆满结业

7月19至30日,按照学校第十二届国际暑期学校教学安排,在教务处与学部教学分管院长指导支持下,学部采取“线上+线下”的方式开设“Conducting Frontier Educational Research(开展教育前沿研究)”、“Education in a Globalized Society(全球化社会中的教育学)”全英文课程,共吸引200余名校内外本科生、研究生,以及部分校内青年教师全程参与学习。学部开设两门课程分别由刘骥教授、美国查普曼大学Ryan Allen教授担任主讲人。

学校国际暑期学校以“立足通识教育,聘请国际师资,暑期全英授课,提升语言能力,培养国际视野,增进跨文化理解”为开课理念,已成功举办共十二届。本届分别由教育学部、历史文化学院、化学化工学院、计算机科学学院等8个教学单位承办,共邀请了来自美国、加拿大、俄罗斯等海外高校专家学者,共开设11门课程。

教育学部第十二届国际暑期学校课程简介:

Conducting Frontier Educational Research:

The course provides an intensive survey of concepts, methods, and genres of rigorous scholarly research, thesis research, and professional technical writing for the study of education. It is designed to especially prepare students, who aspire to become critical consumers and active producers of frontier research in education, to develop analytic and technical skills and rigor to actively engage with the global academic, scholarly, and intellectual communities. Through readings, lectures, class discussions, and course activities students will critically examine genres of both scholarly and technical writing, and develop the necessary academic literacy for engagement and production of frontier literature in education.

Education in a Globalized Society:

The course examinesthe history, sociology, and philosophy of education in the across the world. In addition, the course reviews school formations, current policies and practices in education, and the relationships between education and their communities, along with the larger society. The class will especially focus on the five big educational philosophies: Essentialism, Perennialism, Progressivism, Existentialism, and Social Reconstruction. Students will examine how different policies and philosophies lead to organizational variations in schooling around the world, while considering outcomes like educational equity, access, and student success.
